Woman goes on trial charged with murdering Fife pensioner

A 41 year-old woman has gone on trial accused of murdering an 82 year-old Fife pensioner with a rolling pin.

Sandra Weir, 41, is also charged with stealing thousands of pounds from Mary Logie at her house in Leven.

Mary’s son Ronald Logie, 60, told jurors at the High Court in Edinburgh that Weir helped his mother Mary with tasks around her house.

Weir is charged with murdering Mary at her home on 5th January 2016 by repeatedly striking her on the head and body with a rolling pin.

Weir, a prisoner of HMP Edinburgh, denies charges of murder, fraud and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The trial continues.
