Teen girl one of three arrested as heroin and cash seized

Police in Glenrothes have arrested and charged two women aged 38 and 16 and a 39-year-old man after a large quantity of illegal drugs were recovered from an address in Bighty Avenue, Glenrothes on Thursday 2nd March, 2017.

Members of the public in the Kingdom Shopping Centre gave information to officers from Police Scotland’s Safer Communities Prevention Task Force who were patrolling in the area.

They then acted on this along with local Glenrothes officers and Heroin worth £7,240 and Cannabis worth £70 were recovered. A four-figure sum of cash was also seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The three were due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in due course.

Sergeant Chris Mutter of Glenrothes police station said: “This was an excellent example of members of the community supplying us with vital information that resulted in a large quantity of dangerous drugs being removed from the streets of Glenrothes.

“We are committed to working along with the national resources of Police Scotland, like these officers from the Safer Communities Prevention Task Force who supported us yesterday. This is crucial to our commitment to tackling the scourge of illegal drugs as well as other locally set priorities.

“Glenrothes Police are currently in the process of refreshing the local priorities for 2017 and 2018 and are asking local people to contribute to these by speaking to any local officer about what they would like us to concentrate on.”
