Fife ice hockey stars are flying behind a ‘proud’ campaign for foster carers

Fife Flyers ice hockey team has welcomed Val Brown, a foster carer with Fife Council, and invited her to perform the ceremonial puck drop ceremony before their big match against Edinburgh Capitals.

Val said: “I feel really proud to open the Fife Flyers match and it is great to be part of all the action and excitement.

“I am here with my husband representing Fife Council’s foster carer recruitment campaign and promoting the need for more people to become foster carers.”

She said: “Rab and I think it’s very important to help a child belong and we want more people to consider fostering. There are many children, teenagers and sibling groups in Fife who urgently need a family to care for them.”

Carol Johnstone, Commercial Manager of Fife Flyers said: “It is a great pleasure to have Val and her grandson Kyle here today helping to get our match underway.

“Fife Flyers supports Fife Council’s campaign to find foster families and we take this opportunity to thank all the families in Fife who support the Fife Flyers.”

Fife Council said it urgently needs people to come forward who can offer a child a place in their home.
