Fife bands sought for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay

Fife bands looking for their big break could get a chance to perform at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.

Headline act Paolo Nutini has been lined up to pick a winner of the new Hog the Stage competition.

The Scots singer is inviting new musicians to come forward for the chance to open his sets on December 30 and 31.

The new Hog the Stage competition was announced by organisers and aims to find two of Scotland’s best new bands by inviting them to submit new music.

The top five will be hand-picked by Nutini and entered into an online public vote to select the final two.

Submissions to enter the Hog the Stage competition are now open and will close on 25 November at 5pm. Nutini’s shortlist will then go to an online vote to find the winners, who’ll be announced 14 December.

One of the winning bands will open the Night Afore Concert (30th) and the other will open the Concert in the Gardens (31st). Organisers are even throwing in £250 per band.

Send one MP4 audio file and a 100-word write up about your band. You can also include a link to some of your work tracks on Youtube or Soundcloud. They also want a photo jpeg of the band and details of social media accounts.
